Mary DuVernay

Mary DuVernay grew up in Ramsey, NJ and graduated with a BA in French and Psychology from Amherst College in Massachusetts.  She taught English for a year in France, where she met her husband, a Montana native. A few twists and turns in life later, they found themselves married and starting a family here in Helena. Mary has worked in non-profit social services for several years and recently completed a master’s degree in special education. While she hopes to put this degree to work at some point in the future, right now she is dedicating herself full-time to raising their son. They are very happy to make Helena our home, and Mary is excited to serve on the HCC.  She looks forward to the opportunity to meet more of her neighbors and collaborate on projects to improve the city.
