Janet Hess-Herbert

Originally from Cincinnati, Oh, Janet moved to Montana in 1975 to attend graduate school at the University of Montana. Her career with MFWP took her to Dillon, Kalispell and Helena.  She has lived in Helena since 1999 and just moved into District 1 in September 2011.

She is married and her husband, Jeff, also worked for MFWP for 34 years and they retired together in October.  They have 4 children: twin boys who are 32 years old and two daughters, 28 and 25.  Their daughters live in Missoula and Arlee; their sons, in Austin, Texas and Las Vegas.  They also have one granddaughter in Austin who was born in June 2011.

Gardening is at the top of the list of Janet's hobbies. She has enjoyed gardening at the Waukesha Community Gardens for the last 7 years and the move to Davis St was prompted by finding a house in need of a remodel on .4 acre. She is very interested in substainable food systems, volunteers at AERO and looks for other opportunties in that area of interest. Janet skis all forms, backpacks, hikes, and runs for outdoor activities. She also likes to knit, sew and other crafts as they come along. Traveling to see family and friends and explore new places is also important to Janet.

This is Janet's third term on HCC and she looks forward to a productive year with a full slate of district representatives.
